The Dark Light Series by SL Jennings

Review by Kimmi

Ok, what in the hell? Where do I even begin with this review? First of all don't just buy book 1, this is a series that forces your commitment, so just go ahead and buy both books "The Dark Light" and "The Dark Prince". The end of book 1 "The Dark Light" left me screaming bloody murder at my kindle "NOOOOOO!" I didn't have time to catch my breath, much freaking less muddle though what the hell just happened and write a review. My fingers have never ran to amazons "buy now w/ 1 click" button so fast! I almost passed out from hyperventilating watching book 2 "The Dark Prince" upload from cloud to device! Holy Hell!  SL  Jennings is a paranormal romance genius and she doesn't pull any punches with her rich writing style paired with a hell of a story line. And the characters in this series are so bad ass it is redic! I'd give you a recap on the books but I have WAY too much to say to fit in a recap so if thats what your looking for go elsewhere, sorry kid.

This story is phenomenal! The twist and turns on this emotional roller coaster grabs you by the throat and doesn't let go. In some chapters I was sobbing like a bitch, then in some screaming "Hell Yeah! Kick her ass Gabs!!!" and then there where the good ol' HOT DAMN chapters that left my inner smut whore panting in heat with her eyes rolled back in her head.
Gabriella is a funny, ass kicking, and sometimes self destructive character. And she is my new "BBFF" Book Best Friend Fo Eva! I absolutely adored her! I cheered for her, my heart broke for her, and I cried and laughed for her. I don't know what book 3 will bring for her but I really hope it is happiness.

Gabriella

Dorian
(Be warned, shit is about to get real, and this review is going to become ridden with profanity, viewer discretion has been advised):
Ok, Now. Now is the time in this review where Kimmi gets a little crazy, her cheese slides a bit off her cracker, and she slips a little off her rocker, all with one name: Dorian. Holy Mother of God!!!! Are you freaking kidding me with this guy?!?!?!? His hot number on a scale of 1-10 is : he doesn't have a fucking number! He is so effing HOT his number is infinity!  OMG! His black as midnight hair, crystalline blue eyes, and shit, his dirty mouth! Dear lord baby jesus the things that came out of his mouth either made me swoon and say "awe", or moan and say Ooooohhhhh Shit HOT DAMN! Dorian is the epitome of Effin A Hot Alpha Male SWAG! He is a hair fisting, neck holding, business suit wearing, damn wet dream. Christian and Gideon you just met your match boys, except he has already kicked your ass in said match because he has some magic up his sleeve ;  )

Honestly I could rant and rave about this series for probably the rest of the day and into the night and still feel that I have expressed how freaking awesome these books are, or how much it will leave you aching for more at the end. So, if you need me you can find me, I will be rocking in the fetal position in a padded cell waiting for book 3 "Light Shadows".

Love Bites by Cari Quinn

Review by Kimmi

"Love Bites" starts off as a paranormal erotica but by the end it has blossomed into a paranormal romantic love story.

Sydney has just found her boyfriend of two months in a ehhhh, compromising predicament. With that relationship of epic fail proportions under her belt she is on her way home when she comes across two very strikingly handsome men that seem to be having some car troubles on the side of the road. Maybe her luck has just changed for the better, and one of them, if not both, can help her push away the thoughts of her ex, even for just one night. And why not? Nothing ever happens in this boring town anyway..........

Kellen has been watching Sydney for weeks, and now with his bait set he is ready to finally make his move. Intrigued by her scent, mesmerized by her hidden wildness and tonight HE WILL GET a taste. Kellen may think all this will be is one night, one sip, but Sydney is about to turn his world upside down.
Kellen
This paranormal romantic erotica was a fast paced, high adrenaline rush with off the charts sexy scenes that left me flushed and fanning myself! Whew! Loved this book, I read it in under 3 hours and really didn't want it to end. I am crossing my fingers and clicking my heels in hopes for Luke and Emily's story soon! Thank you Cari Quinn for the fantastic little afternoon delight that I found in "Love Bites"  ;   )

"Beyond Shame" by Kit Rocha

Review by Kimmi:
Wow! That was the most epic and twisted mad house mind fuck that I have read all year! To call this book sexy or hot is the biggest understatement EVER! This book was down right raw and gritty! It's intense, fast paced, and so freaking dirty that I know I'm going to hell for wallowing in its filth and loving every second of it! You know those dark books that make you cringe a bit, but its ok, because thats what makes the book effin' great? This books darkness had me sinfully purring "oh yeah? Ohhhhhh, and then what? Oh, I really like that."
;)

Noelle
This book made me freaking light up with so many emotions I couldn't tell if I was a Christmas tree or an apocalyptic atomic  bomb. From page to page, chapter to chapter I was twisted and turned inside out and backwards so many times that by the end I didn't know up from down, right from wrong, or heaven from hell. With that said, this book is not for the weak at heart, shallow minded, or easily disturbed. As a self professed smut whore, I will think no less of you is this isn't your cup of tea, however, for me? I'll buy this ish up not by the cup but by the case if possible ;)
Jasper

Kimmi's Book Sum up: (If I had to sum this book up in a one sentence blurb, it would be: This story is the product of conception or offspring of "The Hunger Games and a damn good porno flick")

Kit Rocha has built awesome strong and loyal characters in this story, with a bad ass story plot and sex scenes that are as hot as Dante's ninth circle of hell! I hope y'all have as much shameful fun reading this story as I did, now for me: Off to "Beyond Control" I go! Woohoo!!!

Daylight by Karli Rush

Review by Kimmi:

After I finished Twilight, or should I say after the rebirth of vampire mania, I probably devoured through over a hundred Vampire books and series. Everything from J.R. Ward, to Katie MacAlister, Lynsay Sands and Jeaniene Frost and many many more. After a while my craving for all things with fangs faded. Don't get me wrong, Oh I still tore through the Paranormal Romance shelf, but the angles on the Vampire stories just kind of started blurring together and for me turned a little blah.

I didn't read the description of this book before I started it, I just jumped into it. And I freaking loved Mattie from page one of the Prologue, her character jumps off the page with her middle finger in the air, and if you don't like it, she don't give a damn. As for Graham, oh hell. (Kimmie: *sigh*, * fans self*). Graham is, I'm sorry I have no other descriptive words at the moment, Graham is F%¡KING HOT! Alpha male all the way, he is mysterious, dominant, he is a damn wet dream is what he is!!! lol!

Graham

Chapter 1 of this story threw me for a loop because I just didn't see it coming. And the rest of the story? AWESOME! In "Daylight" Karli Rush breathes a breath of fresh air into the Vampire world. Her new spin is PERFECT! I love the characters she created in this story and the world she paints for the reader with her words. I really did not want this story to end! It was a fast read and exciting as hell! Thank you Karli for resuscitating my inner fang banger, and my vamp addiction, NOW GIVE ME ANOTHER, PLEASE!!!!

A Lacy Souvenir by Annelise Paige

Review by Kimmi:
*Warning: Viewer Discretion is advised while reading this review, and also while you drool onto your lap top and/or ipad over these "slightly pornish pic's". Hey if the pic fits, let the review wear it, just sayin'  ;  )
"A Lacy Souvenir" is rated X-tra effin HOT, and earned 5 red hot Smexy Kimmi Stars *****.

Lucien

Ok, WHAT in the HELL was that? I'm still not really sure what that was, but I do know it freaking came outta damn left field! The beginning of this story is all "La te da" Wife and mother of two Jenna is in her 40's, and suspects her husband's infidelities when she finds womens panties in her husbands car, and these ain't grandma's panties either. However, she remains in her life's routine w/  play dates , shopping with friends, and her daily work outs at the gym, all while maintaining a happy and healthy home for her family.  Then out of no where Annelise Paige takes the smexy dial and turns that bitch up, WAY UP! I asked myself about 69 times <- hehehehehe "Is this really happening right now? Oh shit, yes it is really happening, I can't believe we are going here, but hell yeah, lets go!" Now don't get me wrong, I'm as much a smut whore as the next wine sipping, romance novel reading, married, mother of three. But this story knocked my socks off, and Annelise Paige knocks it out of the effin ball park with this phenomenal erotica story about a woman and her coming into own her sexual skin. This is book one of Annelise Paige's series "The Cathartic Adventures of Jenna Monteath" and the ending of book one left me slightly conflicted, yet itching for Book 2! Very well done Annelise Paige! This story you have created is an awesome launching pad for a fantastic series and I cannot wait to find out what you have in store for us next!

Leo by Mia Sheridan

Review by Kimmi:

*Sniffles* How can a book that has so much ugly in it be so damn beautiful? Oh my, that story has your tear ducts warming up in chapter one, and by the end you just a hot sobbing mess trying to finish reading it through your blurring tears! I love Evie! She is so sweet and kind hearted, she has the soul of a soldier and a heart of saint. And lord knows with the shit her life has been she shouldn't be the strong women she has grown to become. And Jake? Dear lord baby Jesus! Can you get any damn hotter? His past is something he feels he must keep hidden from Evie, because if she ever really knew, he knows he'll never get her back again. This story is a true no holds bar love story that will have you on an emotional rollercoaster begging to get off, yet screaming for it to never ever end! There is one thing that I really love about reading a book, and that is falling in love, and today I fell in love hard! With Evie, with Leo, with Jake, and with Miss Mia Sheridan! Damn, damn good book Mia Sheridan! I am freaking stoked to find out what else you have in store for us ;)

Love You More by M.L. Stephens

When I began this book I hadn't read any reviews or book descriptions. By the end of chapter one I was like "WHOA! Hold up! What in the hell?" So off to Goodreads my fingers ran.

This story is unlike any other I have ever read. For me it was a dream like rendition of the movie "What Dreams May Come". M.L. Stephens grabs the readers attention at page one and she doesn't let go, even in the end. "Love You More" is book one in the "Broken" series. When you finish "Love You More" and find yourself hanging in the balance of a cliffhanger, my advice.... just dive off into "Innocence Lost" book two. <- hey, you don't even have to wait, lol! I would like to compare M.L Stephens writing style in this story to someone handing you a small candle, in a large dark room, and walking away and closing the door to that room. While you read this story and look around the room with your small candle light more and more is revealed, the characters and story plot unfolds and transforms in front of the readers eyes, page by page, chapter by chapter. I wish I could, but I can't give a recap or brush on the characters as a topic, I'm afraid I would give away the surprising treasure that this story holds. So, Go, commence forward, read this, and find the jewels that are in this tale, this book is a horse of a different color................

Welcome to my blog's debut Author Interview with Hunter S. Jones

Whats up y'all? Thank you for joining us on this fine hump day for Kimmi's debut author interview with Miss Hunter S. Jones.  Please help me welcome Hunter S. Jones and her effin bad ass, wicked writing skills.

Hunter S. Jones
Kimmi:
Ok, so lets begin. Hunter S. Jones here are some questions I have come up with after delving into some research and thoughts on you as an author, and your work. Which btw, where in the hell did you come up with your unique and kick ass angle/style of books?

HSJ:
Thanks Kimmi. It's my style. How does one develop their style? Imagination? Creativity? Life deals you a bad hand and you have to play it? Somehow make the best of a bad situation?
Yes. all of the above leads to finding and developing your own style.
And hello! Thanks for connecting with me, and thanks for the compliment.

Kimmi:
You have tapped into an untapped market and girl you have done it damn well!!!! Kudos!

HSJ:
Thank you again. You and I are going to be great friends!

Kimmi:
>Those are not my interview questions, lol. Just a few questions and comments that needed to be duly noted ;  )

HSJ:
Sure.

Kimmi:
1) Can you give me a brief biography on yourself and tell me where your inspiration came from on this unique and intriguing take on Paranormal Romance?

HSJ:
The art form I create when writing is much more interesting than anything you will ever know or learn about me. However, since you ask, I have lived in Tennessee and Georgia my entire life, except for one "lost summer" spent in Los Angeles.
I was always a complex kid. My first published stories were for a local underground rock publication in Nashville. I have published articles on music, fashion, art, travel and history.
Currently I have a music blog on ExpatsPost.com and published my debut novella, "Fables of the Reconstruction" in October 2012.
I have a fascination with Edger Allan Poe and Anne Rice, although like any southern girl, I will always idolize Margaret Mitchell for writing "Gone with the Wind". Currently I live in Atlanta, Georgia with my partner, my books and a million dollar view.

Kimmi:
2)What do you have in the works for us right now?

HSJ:
"A Celtic Tapestry", an anthology from Moon Rose Publishing, that will be released March 21st. The wheel of the year turns, bringing the joy of spring, the warmth of summer, the richness of autumn, and the merriment of winter. But eight Celtic festivals link these seasons together, bringing with them romance, lust, danger, and even magic. From a city under the threat from night-time creatures at Ostara, to a selkie caught by the light of the Lughnasadh  moon, to a writer caught in the flames of a fiery goddess at Imbolc.
Eight authors have come together to give their own twist on these festivals, weaving each story with a blend of myth, magic, and contemporary telling..... to create "A Celtic Tapestry". The authors are Livia Ellis, Laura DeLuca, Elodie Parkes, Elle J. Rossi, Miranda Stork, Carolyn Wolfe, Tara Stogner Wood and myself.

Kimmi:
3) Can you name any authors that influenced you to become a writer and inspired your writing style?

HSJ:
There really isn't an author that made me believe "oh I can write a book like that". As for writing style...... I seem to seldom if ever use commas, so that must be a William Faulkner influence.

Kimmi:
4) While writing do you set yourself an allotted amount of time per day, or do you just follow the voices in your head?

HSJ:
Love this question. It depends on the WIP. Some stories do everything but write themselves. Others will drain you and leave you gasping for creative air in an attempt to finish them before they finish you! Every story I've written has its own life, so maybe thats why the process is never the same.

Kimmi:
5) Do your characters have a face before you begin writing them? Are they ever based on an actor/actress? Or do your characters begin as a blank canvas that becomes more clear and develop physically while you are writing?

HSJ:
Generally, I get to know the characters as we work together. Victoria Bryant from "A Celtic Tapestry" was going to originally have red hair, so I dyed my hair red to understand her character. Then, 2 days later, I decided she was blond. Sometimes you just know more as you develop the character.

Kimmi:
6) What is your most favorite and least favorite aspect of writing a book?

HSJ:
Love the writing- the creative part. Strongly dislike the edits and re-writes.

Kimmi:
7) If you could make any one of your characters nonfictional, who would you chose and why?

HSJ:
I love my demon zombie pimp, Pierre von Minzle from "Fables of Reconstruction". However, Englishman James Wellington, from "Magic in Memphis", my Yuletide story in "A Celtic Tapestry" is a beautiful charmer. His ability to change and open his heart to love was beautiful to create.

Kimmi:
8) If you could give new and upcoming authors your shiniest pearl of wisdom, the one you hold dearest, what would it be?

HSJ:
Write, just write.

Kimmi:
9) Can you tell us which character, of ANY book you would want to be, and any character from ANY book that you would snag as a husband if he wasn't fictional?

HSJ:
Daisy Buchanan and Jay Gatsby from "The Great Gatsby". I believe we still have so much to discover about their characters.

Hunter S. Jones, Thank you, Thank You, Thank you so much for the interview, for your time, and answering my questions. I had such an awesome time reading your answers and getting to crawl around in your mind for a bit, lol.

Wreck Me by J.L. Mac

Review by Kimmi:

The creation of this review took me a while because the ending to this story left me in a catatonic state staring at my kindle and waiting for it to reveal to me the second book of this series "Restore Me". Yeah, that didn't happen.

Damon Cole
Damon Cole was quite a delightful surprise, in the beginning when he meets Jo he seemed very reserved, he was calm and still, he just observed.  But dear lord baby Jesus, get that man in the bed room and he turns 50 shades of "HELL YES, SIR!". I love my book men to have a dirty mouth, what can I say? And Damon does not let us ladies down! He is a dominant, pushy alpha male and the things he says in the sheets had my eyes rolling to look at the back of my skull, and the pages on my kindle lighting on FIRE! Whew! (I guess I finally did get that kindle fire, hahahaha ; ) <- side joke by Kimmi, lol.

Jo
I'd say "Poor, poor Jo" but then if I did she'd kick my ass, lol. So I'll say, Damn Jo! Girl you are in serious need of a break! Jo's life has been just shit since her parents died in a car accident 16 years ago. As a child she was in and out of foster homes, lived on the streets, and found a small amount of solace in the arms of a neighborhood Library. While growing up Jo finds comfort in reading. The characters never let her down and they do not judge her. She reads as many books as she can and teaches her self what she needs to know and earns her GED, then she happens on a job at a book store owned by the only person that becomes a fixture in her life for the next 7 years, Sutton. After 7 years of being off the streets and working in the book store, a cool and calm prince charming comes into her life. She is not one for relationships, but she is always down for a one night stand, hell, look at him. Now tell me you wouldn't ; ) However what Damon Cole has in store for her isn't for one night, He wants her forevermore.

Anything and everything  J.L.Mac unleashes on us poor readers leaves us in a quivering, sobbing, and addicted hot heap of a mess, and like good little addicts we will keep coming back for more, over and over again! The cliffhanger at the end of "Wreck Me" had me screaming bloody murder "NOOOOOOOO!" It was so freaking terrible and so effin PERFECT! Damn I CAN'T WAIT for book 2 in this series "Restore Me".

Rule by Jay Crownover

Review by Kimmi
Rule
Holy hot mother effer Batman! I want to start at the top of Rule's head and continue on my journey down until I end up some where south of his border! Sheeshes! Rule is as much a bad ass on his feet as he is in the sheets.  He spends his nights in the bottle and draped in women. Every Sunday his family friend Shaw has to drag his ass out of bed (women entangled and all) and drive him to his family's house for their weekly family brunch. Rule doesn't give a shit about being politically correct, and he lets the world know it. He never pretends that he is something he isn't and after the death of his twin brother his downward spiral out of control increases ten fold.

Sweet Shaw has always tried to keep the calm in her adopted family. See, Shaw's real family, her parents, are pretentious assholes that care more about "breeding her" right and making sure she does well by the family name. Shaw was best friends with Rule's twin brother, Remy from middle school on. Remy always protected Shaw and and they were as close as two friends could ever be. But Shaw only ever had eyes for the bad boy of the two. She gave her heart over to Rule the moment she layed eyes on him and he called her Casper. She has held a candle for him all her life, and dammit now she is tired of it, she is pulling out the big guns, aka the V card. She is not expecting anything in return, just let her cash this damn V card to the only guy that it has ever belonged too. She knows this isn't going to change the way he sees her, but dammit, she'll get hers!

But when the lines are blurred and Rule is seeing straight for the first time in a long time. He can't help but see Shaw in a different light. Especially now that he knows where she works and what her work uniform entails. Maybe she is just a little vixen that plays dress up in pearls and closed toe pumps of beige and khaki. Now he wants to shatter her perfect persona and get to the real Shaw Landon.

This was a fantastic and sexy as hell story! Absolutely loved it! The hot factor in this story had me panting! Had to step out on the back porch and have a cigarette a couple of times. Whew! Do your self a favor, buy this hot ish now! Read it, eat it up, devour it. It is that damn good y'all!

Battlescars a rock & roll romance by Sophie Monroe

Review by Kimmi

Jake Palmer
Such a fun and lovely story!  Jake and Aubrey both have enough physical and emotional scars to make them err on the side of caution where trust is involved.  However Jake has felt dead inside for far too long to not jump, push, or pull his way into Aubrey's heart.  She is a jolt of life, like lightening striking his heart and bringing him back to life.  Now all he has to do is prove to her that he is man enough to bring her from the darkness and into the light. "It's always darkest before the dawn." Jake knows he has to take it slow with Aubrey, one day at a time. But once they finally come together they are like a hurricane, a whirl wind, theirs is a "Balls to the wall" love story.  I expected this book to have more of a hard core vibe to it before reading it, I think that is because of its cover. Just like the book, Jake looks like a hard core bad ass mother effer, but on the inside, in his pages, he is just a beautiful soul that wants to be loved unconditionally and give his love just the same way.  Aubrey is an awesome kick ass leading female character, or so it seems, because like Jake, her appearance doesn't match what lies inside her. She is a very scared and frightened girl whose past refuses to let her grow and love outside her family and best friend. Jake may scare the shit out of her at first, but once he pushes away all of her defenses and is in her heart, she knows her life will never be the same. And she is right. Two lost and shadowed souls, just drifting though a dark life, but once these souls slam into each other, they are not lost or dark, they are found and they light up like the fourth of July!

On Every Street by Karina Halle

Review by Kimmi

I really wished I hadn't read this book. Well, maybe that's not the right statement. I really wished I would have read this book first, then read "Sins & Needles" book 1 of "An Artists Trilogy". Because you see, I had damn Javier perfectly packaged in his little box that was wrapped in black paper and had a little red tag that read "VILLAIN". But I'll be damned if Karina Halle didn't just blow that whole box to smithereens. I did not want to have feelings for Javier, I didn't even want to know what Ellie / Eden felt for Javier. I didn't give a shit about thier history because he was a cheater and he wasn't Camden. However,  because I am freaking feigning for book 2 of this trilogy "Shooting Scars" I figured I'd use this little novella as a tiny hit, a little sip to curb the addiction eating away at me while I wait (patiently......hahaha yeah right!) for "Shooting Scars" to be released this summer.

Javier
For me reading "On Every Street", was a terrible, great, and fantastically bad idea! Dammit I loved this book, and Lord knows I didn't want too, (or did I). I wanted Karina to make it easy on me, help me keep Javier in his black tagged box, or at least help me feed my hatred for him. But noooooo, she couldn't give me that. What she did give me though, and yes I am woman enough to admit now, was excatly what I really always want out of a book or series. She proved me wrong. She gave me Eden and Javier's story, it is a sad and beautiful tradgedy. It scratches past the surface you learn about while reading S&N, and it cuts straight to the heart, the bone of all the pain that Ellie has endured to become what she is in S&N. And I loved every second of it! "On Every Street" Karina Halle does that thing that only a few rare magical authors can do, she makes you own up to the fact that you freaking love to be wrong, to think and expect one thing then find out you were wrong and you realize that that makes it even more right!
Ellie/ Eden
5-Eeeeek! Kimmi Stars and icannoticannoticannoticannot WAIT for "Shooting Scars"!!!!!  Now I shall return to my feigning ways, devouring book after book in hopes to curb this spreading addiction. I don't know about y'all, but Amazon is making a killin' off of me and my addiction, lol. ;  )

A Terrible Love by Marata Eros

Review by Kimmi
I LOVED the plot to this story, it was absolutely AWESOME! This story had a cup of dark, a quart of thrilling, and a damn pound of super freaking sexy! I really didn't expect to get sucked in as quick as I did when I started reading this book. The reviews that I read didn't have me chomping at the bit to get to it. You damn crazy reviewers, this is a Fantastic 5 stars, and if you don't think so, well we probably can't be book BFF's, 'cause we don't roll the same, obviously, lol.  Jess / Jewell is running from a past that is about to catch up with her, and she is running quick and hard and right into the arms of two different men that couldn't be any more bi polars of each other. Mitch is the good ole boy, that is willing to wait for Jess to make up her mind. But Cas, hell Cas had my face flushed and my breath quick before page 90! I was asking Marata "Hey girl! Can I get a spoon? You know what, never mind, I'll just lick him up." Yeah, Cas isn't waiting, he's taking, and he makes damn sure Jess knows he does not share! <- just the way I like 'em, sigh.

Jess and her BFF Carlie have a hilarious banter, "Slut's Unite!" lol. They kept me cracking up the whole way through this story.

Cas

This story has twists and turns that had me screaming and gasping "NO WAY!!!! Holy shit! that came outta left field!" A Terrible Love is the perfect recipe of mystery, hot as hell sexy, and shocking character revelations.
