Feature Author Blog Spotlight: Mark Davis

Meet Mr. Mark Davis: Author, Erotic Poet and titillating Storyteller

Growing up in Australia, Mark Davis has always been a keen observer of the people around him. And from his schoolboy fantasies about his teachers, the older girls, or whichever super heroine was around at the time, his mind never stopped coming up with scenarios that inevitably ended up with a mess somewhere. None of these fantasies were forgotten and as he became an adult he used new experiences to create new fantasies. With the rich tapestry of new people he met in his day to day life Mark started to write these fantasies down, he used his fertile mind to express himself in both erotic stories and poetry. He started sharing them with a small circle of appreciative friends and with the encouragement from these friends Mark then took the next step toward sharing his work with a much wider audience.... and we look forward to what else he has in store for us.

Kimmi got the chance at a little Q&A with the author & erotic poet Mr. Mark Davis, and here's what she said, he said....
1) If you would, please give me a brief biography on yourself and tell me what, if you could say, is the thing that inspired you most to write .
~Grown up in rural Australia .. Happy with the small town life but always loved words and loved people watching. Writing enables me to make use of both theses loves.

2) Do you have any other hot new releases coming out, if can you tell us about them?
~Yes, the third volume of my poetry, the menage/cougar volume is out very soon and a little free release on amazon, bought to heel. 5 shorts stories and a couple of sample poems. Both very hot. Also working on a 20k BDSM story that I am enjoying writing immensely.
3) Can you name any authors that influenced you to become a writer or has a major influence on your erotic and sensual writing style?
~No author in particular. I always read lots of crime thrillers. I loved the ones that were erotic as well.
4) While writing do you set yourself an allotted amount of time per day, or do you just follow the deviant voices in your head?
~Just follow the voices..would love to allocate time though.
5) Do your characters have a face before you begin writing them? Are they ever based on an actor/actress? Or do your characters begin as a blank canvas that becomes more clear and develop physically while you are writing?
~The characters like the story just develop. I see them in my head sometimes and I picture what they are doing. Sometimes though I start writing a scene and they just take over.

6) What is your most favorite and least favorite aspect of writing?
~Worst part is finding time alone..the best part is the writing. I can feel everything as it happens.
7) If you could have any one of your characters be nonfictional and apart of your daily life, who would you chose and why?
~Stormy Love's characters were just perfect.

8) When you are not in the middle of writing, what is your most favorite thing to do with your leisure time?
~I love chatting to friends all around the world and some fans. Fans can be very inspiring. I also like listening to music, especially songs with clever lyrics.
Thank you so much Mark for spending your time and effort to answer my questions. I had a really fun time figuring out what I wanted asked in our interview. Erotic Midnight Musings and your other recently released books Snow, A Winter Romance and Stormy Love are some of my all time favorite and sexy Amazon 1-clicks I've read. So I am really excited and can hardly wait to read your new upcoming release, Brought to Heel.
Thanks again for sharing~Kimmi
It's always a pleasure to answer your questions. Thank you so much xx ~Mark Davis

September Ends by Hunter S. Jones

Review by Kimmi:

I am in complete and utter awe of the sheer rarity and substantial style of storytelling that Hunter S. Jones bestows upon me everytime I am gifted the chance to fall in love not only with the story her beautiful, rich and colorful words create, but the deep and complex characters she brings to life with her written word, characters that leave you to scream at their injustices, weep while their souls fall into absolute despair, and cheer with a full fluttering heart when happiness takes away all the dark blackness that was once seeping from their pores. This was on a literary level a story that truly is what legends are made of, a story that is so out of its fellow genre novels realm, it is both before it's time yet historic all in the same breath, word, sentence. It is so unlike any book I have read, that at first glance my inner smut whore that reads the same formula of the same book over and over winced at the beginning. I thought "Dear lord Hunter, what have you done. This will never work love. It is impossible." By page fifty Ms. Jones had me eating my own thoughts, swallowing whole my words of disbelief.
This ART, this form of story telling, goes against everything we know. We've only seen it in history books, that tell us it's great because it's great. However because history has told us it is great and it is known to us by pop culture retelling it in a more main stream manner, we never really understand what history means by greatness. However after I finished the last chapter of September Ends I FINALLY grasped what the teachers wanted me to see....in Dickinson, Wilde, Frost, Bronte and Shakespeare.
Where thiers were words I've heard all my life Hunter S. Jones words in September Ends are not, her words are new, words unread and unheard by the masses but the immensity, intensity of them make them just as infinite.
To say my smut whore shut her trap is an understatement. Her eyes widened in astonishment and she hung on to every word from page fifty on. I've never seen her like that, she shut the fuck up and sat back, immersing herself into the story, ladies and gentlemen, my smut whore who hasn't ever known love, fell head over hills in love with Liz, Charles, Pete, Jack, Malachy, Spider and even Mrs. T.
She, my smut whore, and my conscious self, Kim, we just sat and cried after the last word on the last page was read, we watched as it blurred, then the kindle went dark and we just wept together. We wept not only because September Ends was over, but also was the feeling of witnessing history and future unfold together in a story making it so grandeur that it is with out beginning and with out end, also a story that we both winced at and called impossible.
Hunter I would say thank you, I really want to say it, but I cannot at this moment. I know later when I am not fresh into the heartache and book hangover I've just fallen into that I will be able to Thank you. As for now all I have for you is DAMN you woman, you not only took away my sleep last night, and this day, but you have left me royally fucked up, yet humbled in awe of the art form you passed off as a story. Kudos woman, you've left me on my knees.
September Ends gets a goddamn Kimmi Oscar nod of 10, yep read 'em and weep TEN (never done that before, check the record books) 10-This isn't a book, isn't a story, it's fucking history in the making- Kimmi Stars **********

Kimmi sits down with Hunter S. Jones and a bottle of wine for a little Q&A:

Holy freaking shit! Whoa! I just finished September Ends and absolutely LOVED IT! Now that I've finished my review I can step back into my profanity loving, not entirely sane and nine times out of ten seems to not make sense mode. Because let me tell ya, after September Ends the review that spilled out isn't my typical review. It was a whole lot more serious than my previous reviews, it also was inspired by THE GREAT mind of Hunter S. Jones. But now I get to kick off my shoes, pour us some wine, and dive into this womans mind. YAY!!!!
Most won't know this or remember that Hunter S. Jones was my VERY FIRST author Interview, with her release of Fables of Reconstruction and the upcoming release of A Celtic Tapestry, a collaboration tale of eight celtic festivals she with seven other authors created I had the chance at a Q&A with an author that caught my eye and attention with a writing style that consisted of zombies, pimps, drugs and eroticism way back in my baby blogging days. With the first half of my wine glass empty *rubs hands together, crosses legs on the couch and curls up to sit on my feet* lets get to it you deep, dark romantic bitch you!

1) Ok I gotta ask this, what the fuck.... No sorry, WHERE the fuck did that "September Ends" come from!?!! How long did you hear those voices before you put them on paper?

~The Story appeared to the poet collaborator and myself. After The Story and synopsis presented itself, the three main characters revealed themselves. Next, my collaborator wrote the poetry as the spine of the book. Then, I added the words. By the end of the book we were both adding to the story with a type of fervor. With all that being said, we actually began discussing the concept of September Ends in April of this year.

2) *(A question almost identical to the first question, only worded different so I am able to scratch past the surface. )
Did September Ends come from life experiences, I know how much your love for the south, old long armed oaks, cicadas, the rich earth and kudzu effects the imagery in your story telling, but the feelings, love found, lost loved ones, lost love, despair and desolate solitude, are these feelings you portray in ink born from your own painful tragedy?

~Yes.

3) In our last interview you lived in Atlanta in a house with a beautiful view, are you still in Atlanta, and with September Ends releasing what are your plans? Straight back to the drawing board or some time to breathe?

~Yes.

4) So, ahhhh.....FB jail huh? Lmao, what happened girl?

~Guess when you add a lot of people in a short amount of time, or a lot of people add you, FB stops you from adding new friends. Dunno. Its as if you get penalized for being popular.
5) What made you feel it was important not only to get Liz, Pete, and Jacks story told, but also made you feel that it was important to use the story telling format you used?

~ I really don't know the answer to this question. Every story makes its own way. Stephen King said it best in an interview. To paraphrase his quote, Once the story presents itself, its as if you take dictation. That is exactly the way it is. No doubt.
6) What is one thing you could change about September Ends (that you either left out, or didn't stress enough) if anything at all?

~Jack O Savage was the same age as Shakespeare.

7) Did you know when you finished September Ends how fucking DAMN good it was, or did you let yourself critique the hell out of it making you question the decisions you made while writing September Ends?
~We kept editing and editing until one of us realized it was time to get the book to BZHercules, our editor/ formatter.
8) What is the last damn good book you read that was written by an indie or debuting author? What was the name, author and long story short what was it about?

~You know, that is the question I always dread and never know how to answer. However, this time, in the context of September Ends, it was with my collaborator. He used the same three words in one of his books that I used in Fables of the Reconstruction--in the same format and in the same context. That is why I pursued him, determined to make this story, this novel collaboration, happen. September Ends is an interesting blend of romance with erotic and supernatural elements, bound by poetry. Its an artistic understanding, a synergy, on some level of your subconscious that you get from another artist.
9)What is your best piece of advice for debuting authors?

~Follow your heart, follow your art but don't quit your day job!

10) What, I shutter and thrill all at the same time to know, what do you have in store for us next?

~The anonymous English Poet and I are already getting a vibe for Book 2 of the September Story. The Story continues to unravel itself before us. It's as if we have been given a gift.
Thank you so much Hunter, I love you dearly my southern sister and I will always be your number one fan!!!!

~Thank you so much for featuring me today! Thank you to for taking the time to read September Ends.

LipSmackin' GoodBooks has the Cover Reveal for September Ends by Hunter S.Jones

September Ends by Hunter S. Jones Cover Reveal

SEPTEMBER ENDS
By
Hunter S. Jones & an Anonymous English Poet
Overweight and dull. That’s how I felt.
My grandfather and brother died. I hid inside a black cave deep in my soul, numbed for a decade on meds, booze, and bad love, married to my glorious career.
My name is Liz Snow, from Atlanta, Georgia, and this is my story.
One hot summer I fell hopelessly in love with successful attorney, Peter William Hendrix III, from Chattanooga, Tennessee. We bonded because of Shelley and Keats. Pete introduced me to the works of modern English poet, Jack O. Savage, It was like The Poet was drawing us together through his blogs and poems, like he had a message for my life and my love with Pete Hendrix.
I lived it in my heart and soul.
It all went tragically wrong once I learned Pete’s secret.
As September ends I jet to London, England with an unstable mind and a broken heart. Pete Hendrix betrayed me big time. There was no time for revenge. My life was a kaleidoscope of stabbing shards of pain.
London ignored me. Maybe I didn't exist. I was lost and lonely in a flat in Kensington.
I hear that Jack O. Savage will make a rare public appearance. I wrangle an invitation to the art gallery where he is reading. I was curious. Somehow, he was the cause of my trouble.
The rock-star-with-words was even more damaged than I.
Jack O.Savage, The Poet became my friend.
Then, an unexpected kiss at a county fair on a perfect English summer's day changed everything forever. Jack the man became my lover.
Magic.
My elusive dream of a lifelong love began.
If Pete was what I'd always wanted, Jack was what I always needed.
The mystery unraveled as the kaleidoscope of my broken life evolved and I found myself living a rainbow of perfect bliss.
Sometimes when you believe it’s the end, it’s only the beginning.
September Ends is a contemporary romance with erotic and supernatural elements bound together by poetry. It reveals the intricate web of passion and desire which entangles Liz Snow, Pete Hendrix and Jack O. Savage. The story is told through Liz Snow’s diary, Jack O. Savage’s poetry, and from letters sent across the Atlantic. Traveling throughout the lushness of a summertime in Tennessee and Georgia, September Ends journeys into the elegance of London’s West End and is finally settled in the countryside of Cornwall, England, a decade later.
September Ends is a story of sin, redemption and salvation through love because love happens when we least expect it.

Touch Me Book Excerpt:
PROLOGUE:
SUNDAY, Sept 2 2012
At this very moment I'm sitting on the back of a Harley, which could very well be stolen, setting off into the sunset with an amazing guy. His strong muscular form is driving and the vibrations of the motor send shivers through our bodies. I recall the past few years I'd spent with my ex-boyfriend, Marc. I close my eyes and rest my chin on this mans back. It's easy to remember the heartache and the pain of loneliness. I can still sense the tears I shed for Marc. My ex never cared for me the way I loved him. I was in love with Marc for years; he played my family and me for fools. Marc stole my heart and stomped on it the day I found him in bed with my best friend Natalie. That day I lost Marc and I lost a huge part of me as well. I told myself I wouldn't give my heart to another man again. The wind ripping through us feels cool against my body and it's tangling through my thick, wavy, brown hair. I scan my eyes looking down along his powerfully built chest and see my arms wrapped around his waist for fear that I may fall. The mere thought of falling in love scared me for too long. My eyes move over his broad left shoulder and I catch a glimpse of my reflection in the side mirror. The twinkle in my big-brown eyes and the smile across my face bring out an emotion as if I'm a little girl just waking up Christmas morning. I have a sense of freedom that I haven't experienced in a long time. I never imagined emotions this strong would consume me again. The past few weeks are nothing I ever imagined. This man in front of me is the one who allows me to be me. He loves me for the person I am, not the woman he wants me to be.

Broken Ever After by Natalie Graham

Review by Kimmi:
Holy Shit!!! Ok, before I even can begin to unleash my profanities and unstable ramblings about Broken Ever After I need to say right now that when I started this book what I thought I was walking into and what I was actually walking into were two TOTALLY different stories. Wowza's!!!! Natalie Graham, congrats girl, at 30% into this story you had me doing an about face and me thinking "Uh Oh....I know everything seems innocent and at high school level but I swore I thought I could hear the 'Jaws' danger tune in the back ground, barely...but it was still there, and I knew in my bones that the shit was about to HIT the fan. Du-Du...Du-Du...Du-Du... As the danger chord got louder I was still not expecting BAM! Even though I sensed it coming when it did hit, it hit like a damn frontal attack!
Damn it, this author had me hot and bothered one second then screaming angry at the inexcusable unfairness life was bombarding upon not only Olivia, but Jamie and the relationship between them that held so much promise.

When the story begins we meet Olivia in her last year of school. With the end of the school year looming ahead Olivia is begining to feel the ugly regret of never facing the fact that she has been in love with her math teacher for over six years and failed to make her feelings known. However, society frowns upon whatever could come from her voicing what she most regrets. Olivia finally makes ammends with the way things will be and how her love for Mr. Matthews will go untold as she goes off to Uni soon. So when Mr. Matthews is the one to make the first move, Olivia is not only caught off gaurd, but totally blown away.
The beginning of the taboo relationship between Olivia and Jamie aka Mr. Matthews is kept fairly innocent at Olivia's persistance. Olivia is determined to keep their affair secret until their roles of teacher and student are no longer an issue that society can use to make them keep their love hidden. However at the beginning in the transition of their relationship from private to public, Olivia experiences a tragic and horrific incident. This incident, along with childhood secrets she has kept locked away since she was eight years old creates an insecure and unsteady foundation for a love that should, and could have been a beautiful and timeless everlasting love.
I Freaking Know!!!! Right!?!?!?! Natalie creates the perfect "Oh....this is good. No, this is DAMN good!!!" story using a rich writing style that is paired with complex and memorable characters. But WAIT!! You have only made it to 60%, and guess what you hear getting louder? Du-du..Du-du...Du Du Du Du Duhhh...... Holy Jesus, Mary, and Joseph you then realize that this is only the tip of the iceberg. This is when Natalie turns a damn good book into the greatest mindboggling, "Oh my shitness, is this really happening?" debut of the year!!!
I could write a review on this awesome story a hundred different times and still be unable to truely capture the monumental roller coaster ride this book takes you on. Natalie Graham did NOT hold back while writing this story, there were times when "WOW! This was a perfectly executed debut novel..... wait am I sure this is not a seasoned author?" Only to get a bit further into the story and I was left just sitting back and holding on for dear life while Natalie takes it from good to "Holy hell, WTF.....where the fuck did that come from?"

Natalie, hats off to you babe. You not only surprised the shit out of me, but also gave me the ride of my life by keeping me on my damn toes through the entire book all the way until the very end.
Broken Ever After gets 5-Holy Hell, Someone tell me this isn't happening- Kimmi Stars *****

LipSmackin GoodBooks is your Blog Tour Hostess for In Your Dreams by Gina Ardito

Review by Kimmi:
Wow! I ♥ Paranormal Romance, l really do, however it has been a very long time since we went out on a date. (It's been a while since I've read a paranormal romance....lol) And from page one of In Your Dreams I wouldn't know it has almost been 6 months since I have, this book was exactly what I needed to cleanse the palate if you will.....I forgot how fun and exciting the world of paranormal is!!!
In Your Dreams is a story about Isabella, a former child star that lives in Beverly Hills. She is a woman with strength, will, and determination. Although it seems Isabella has a life dreams are made of, all that glitters is actually tarnished and doesn't shine. After attempting suicide only to be saved by her best friend, Justin, now Isabella is pissed. And yes she is strong, strong willed and determined, but with her sights set on suicide *coughs* a SECOND suicide plan it really is just a sad recipe for a worthless loss.
Bounty hunter Sean Martino is a man that lives in the afterlife and his job is to invade the dreams and help people that have attempted suicide and continue to have suicidal ideations.
And when he struts into Isabella's dream to talk her down off the proverbial edge he is instantly drawn to her. They have a very strong connection that makes Sean try a little harder to keep this woman amongst the living. But Isabella doesn't give a damn, her plans will not be deterred and Sean realizes this woman is going to be a hard one to save. He is used to having a bit of a hard time getting through to suicidal people, and helping them understand their worth. However with Isabella he has his damn hands full. She not only wants to commit suicide, she is damned determined as hell to do it.
So when Sean's rule bending and breaking ways catch up to him, it couldn't happen at a worse time. But before he is cut off from her and her dreams completely he does leave her with something that will force Isabella to make one of the hardest decisions she's ever made in her life.

Shit that book freaking rocked! With so many things in play and twists at every turn I honestly had no idea where Gina Ardito was leading me, so I just sat back and held on for dear life on this crazy ass roller coaster ride! The entire time I wanted Sean and Isabella to be together so badly, but the chances of that happening were slim to none and I really didn't want to get my hopes up to high for that. Gina did an excellent job using her fantastic ability to weave a compelling story where the odds remain stacked against characters that are complicated, complex, and intriguing.  I absolutely loved Sean and Isabella's story. And Gina Ardito you have captured yourself a lifetime fan! I will make damn sure this series STAYS at the top of my TBR list!
In Your Dreams easily gets 5-Damn I forgot how kick ass paranormal can be!-Kimmi stars ★★★★★
I cannot WAIT to see what Gina has for us next in this series!!!!

Meet The Author, Gina Ardito:
I kill houseplants. There. Now you know one of my greatest shames. I'm not boasting. I just figure that if you're reading this, you're looking for more than how wonderful life is as a writer. So here are a few more of my flaws:
I sing all the time. I sing in the car. In the shower. While I'm grocery shopping. And I headbop while I sing. When I'm not singing, I talk to myself. Just ignore me and move on. You get used to it after a while.
I don't eat my vegetables. Seriously. I'd rather have a cookie.
I'm extremely fair-skinned and could burn under a 60-watt light bulb.
I can't sleep without background noise. If it's too dark and too quiet, all I have are my thoughts. And even *I* don't want to be alone with my thoughts.
Don't ask me to Zumba, line dance, or march in the parade. I have absolutely no rhythm.
Regrets. I have more than a few.
My favorite activity is sleep. I don't clock a lot of hours, but I powernap like a Persian cat and rejuvenate within ten minutes.
I consider shopping and dining out excellent therapy for anything wrong in my life.
My feet are always cold. Always. My husband claims it's because I'm an alien sent to Earth to destroy him. (He might be right about that.)
Coming to my house for a visit? Unless you've given me plenty of advance notice, be prepared. My floor will not be vacuumed, there will be dishes in my sink, and I only make my bed when I change the sheets once a week (I'm climbing back into it ASAP. Why make it?) Housecleaning is not high on my priority list. Okay, to be totally honest, it's not on the list at all.
I can resist anything...except ice cream.
Since this is our first date, I figure I've revealed enough secrets for now. But if you've read this bio and think I might be the author for you, pick up one of my books or stalk my website: www.ginaardito.com and my personal blog: http://ginaardito.blogspot.com.

(**OK, Gina....You....Me...., long lost sisters!! WTH!?! Every single answer you gave is hand in hand with my inner id answers!!! Lmao!**)
I can resist anything...except ice cream.
Since this is our first date, I figure I've revealed enough secrets for now.
But if you've read this bio and think I might be the author for you, pick up one of my books or stalk my website:

Tattered Love by Lola Stark

Review by Lil' Max:
Holy Mother of all that is Fucking Hot this shit right here! I Said this shit right here is it! This is one of the hottest debut books I have ever read.  Whew! I swear to Gawd I thought my body was on fire!
Let me tell you right of the bat the two things you will need or need access to rather while reading this book.  First and for most a man,  boyfriend,  husband or booty call to satisfy the damn tingly aching scorching hot Flames that will build up over and over in your body.  If that is not an option for you, make sure you got quick access to that top drawer of your night stand,  you know What I'm sayin? Ok now that we have established that lemme tell you get on into this review.
Scarlett (Scar) is a Sexy, Lil Hot tempered, Tiger in the sac that owns a kick ass tattoo shop.  Her work is impeccable and she had made a name for herself.  She has established a little close knit family with her staff and they all look out for one another. She was screwed over pretty good by her last "boyfriend" and she ain't got time for none of that drama that comes with a relationship!  To her men are pretty much good for only one thing.  Purely physical satisfaction! Until Mace walks through the shop doors to see his brother. Then all logical thought process stops and she is knocked square off her normal game and on her sexy lil ass!
God Lawd have Mercy Mace! This MoFo is sex on a stick dipped in chocolate and of course sprinkled with Tattoos!!  He is a "Bad Boy"!  Motorcycle.  check.  tattoos.  check.  alpha male attitude. check.  Sexy as Fuck! CHECK. CHECK. CHECK.  If he knows he wants something, he's not stopping til he gets it.  No way. No how, but like every "Bad Boy" he's got his issues too.  He is fresh home from the military and ready to figure out his next step in life.  So what better place to start than to reconnect with his brother who just happens to work at Scar's shop!  Mace has encountered some crazy shit during his stent in the service.  Shit that has really skewed his perception of his self worth.
These two tease, tantalize and torture each other until they break! They have the best chemistry in and out of the bed except for their securities.  This book will have you laughing your ass off and needing a cold shower.   Lola did the damn thing and your bat shit crazy if you don't go grab this ASAP. This gets 5+++BadAssScorchingHotDirtyStars!!!!

LipSmackin' GoodBooks has an Author Interview with R.D. Cole as well as Kimmi's Review for Learning to Live by R.D. Cole

Review by Kimmi:
I am the kind of reviewer that MUST begin writing all of the voices, emotions, and intense feelings I have after finishing the last page of the book I've just read. It is sad to say, but it must be said, that if there isn't a storm of craziness in my mind after I finish a book my followers can read in between the lines of my reviews and they can tell, with that being said this is SO FAR from that book, it is at the other end of the universe from that book. Now, I apologize for letting this crazy bitch off her leash before hand *unhooks leash* but if I don't let her out, she is going to take me out!
Holy Shit! No, freaking seriously! Holy Shit!!!! I don't think the readers that had their hands on this book and wrote their reviews were able to fully grasp or accurately explain the total phenomenon of epic proportions that lies with in this books pages! And I am sorry but dammit I effin' SCOFF at you!! Why?!?! Damn you WHY am I just now reading this book!?!?! Sheesus! R.D. Cole where in the hell have you been sister!!! Damn girl! R.D. Cole has a style unlike any other author I've read to date. She does NOT pull a single punch, hell she grabs you by the nape of the neck while shoving fist after fist of the bad and the ugly down your throat! Then she turns around and feeds you with a silver spoon the hot sexy sweet and you eat that shit up like a kid on the living room floor after trick or treating on Halloween! And when you aren't even looking she delivers an excellent round house kick that leaves you babbling, confused, and asking WTFH!?!?! However her writing magic lies within her finesse to do all of this without flooding your mind with unnecessary details and her ability to put you through the proverbial wringer, yet at the end you are not left in the midst of a bitch cliffhanger,  and you get the solitude of the character as she went through her journey of Learning how to live.
Trudy Love has been handed shit cards from the dealer of life since the beginning. In and out of foster homes who only saw her as a monthly check, she grows up starved of love, attention, and a sense of family. When she is finally granted one good hand, she immerses herself in every piece of love she is granted. She excels in dance, her grades remain at a 4.0 or higher, and she is finally able to make someone happy, not for the monthly check, but to see her succeed. Until her next hand is dealt, and her happy house of cards fall all around her, uncaring of the despair and devastation she is also left alone to deal with. When a guy she sees around school, not a student though sees her grieving over the loss of the only mother she has ever known she is grateful for his offer of a place to stay. But unbeknownst to her she has just walked into the devil's den. His kindness doesn't last long, and his hurtful words aren't the only thing that hurts when fists and bloody lips begin to become her norm. Now with a baby growing daily in her womb she knows that all she has to do is make it through her last year of school. Brad aka Satan doesn't know it, but she has been granted a full scholarship to a college in another state. So with her plans set in motion all she has to do is make it to the finish line and she can see it, it's just barely out of her reach. But life and plans for Tru are just like a deck of twisted cards, a game that she always seems to be on the losing end of. And yet again, she falls, yet again her plans become meaningless,  yet again she loses it all.
Was Jax born with money? Yes. Does Jax
take it for granted? Hell No. Jesus, Mary, and Joseph if I could hand select a fictional character to make fictional babies with, and ride away into our fictional future in our fictional minivan, it would be Jax, ALL DAY *coughs* AND ALL NIGHT BABY ;) I have loved a many fictional men, Kellen, Jake Wethers, Christian, Gideon, but I would take Jax's college boy ass over EVERYONE of them! He has a heart of an angel and the mouth with a sinful tongue. Holy cheese and crackers,  he is perfection.  Every damn sexy as hell inch of him.
When he first lays eyes on Trudy there isn't a question of if, it's mothafuckin WHEN..... He will play the part of a friend, he will play the part of a hero, hell he'll play any damn part he needs to and it isn't to win the game, it is to win her heart and soul. Well, he won mine the second he strutted his fine ass, dark brown eyed, dimpled smile self onto the pages! Sorry this review isn't about how Jax turned me into a crazy bitch in heat.... back to the story ;)
Nothing has ever come easy for Tru in life, and Jax's love and devotion seems to good to be true. With bumps in their paths left and right, and her deep need to keep her heart guarded, it seems like this is a love that cannot ever last. But Tru Love is Jax's True Love, and come all of hell and the highest floods of water, he isn't going to let her go, period.
When I finished this story I was a hysterical, crying, hot damn mess! I loved it, I hated it, then I fell even more in love with it. I love the authors way of beating me down, then building me back up, and then kicking my ass making me bust it into my happy house of cards. This story is beautiful, heart wrenching, heart warming, it is brutal, and gives you closure while leaving you begging for more all over again. The good, the bad, and the ugly. Learning to live gracefully nabs 5-where the hell has this book been all my life-Kimmi Stars ★★★★★

Kimmi's Author Review with R.D. Cole author of Learning to Live:
1) Give me a brief biography on yourself and tell me what, if you could say, is the most definite thing that inspired you to write?
~I live in good ole' Alabama (Roll Tide) but grew up an army brat. At age four my parents finally settled down along the gulf coast where they both grew up. I  have a wonderful husband who is 9 years younger than me and a 9 year old daughter who's blind and autistic. We love fishing, mud riding on anything, and shooting guns. I have a 38 revolver. Laughing is my favorite thing after creating. I love painting and not long ago took hold of my crazy imagination and started writing. I'm a weird person who doesn't care what people thinks of me. I love make-up and shoes and love dressing like a pin-up sometimes. And this is what inspired me to write.....was my life and experience. I wanted to write about some of my experiences in life that effected a large part of who I am today. But after I started, the story was not mine anymore. It quickly became Jaxon and Trudy's
2) What do you have in the works for us right now?
~Right now I'm working on Learning to Heal. It takes Jasmine aka Jazz, who you meet in the first book, and we get to see how the decisions she made during book 1 affect her and her future.
3) Can you name any authors that influenced you to become a writer or has a major influence on your writing style?
~Geez! So many have inspired me with their writing and the emotions they set in my heart. S.C. Stephens, Rebecca Donovan, Abbi Glines, Colleen Hoover, Tara Sivec, C.M. Stunich, Jamie Mcguire, Kendall Grey, Hadley Quinn, and Many many more. Reading their words and feeling what their characters felt was unreal and I wanted to do that. I wanted to stir emotions in people so deep they would remember my characters.
4) While writing do you set yourself an allotted amount of time per day, or do you just follow the voices in your head?
~I definitely follow my characters lead. I'm constantly writing things down. It doesn't matter what time it is. If something comes to mind I scribble it in a notebook or on my dry erase board. But sometimes if I get in a funk I sit and just start writing. The funk will dissipate and fingers and imagination starts running. Its like  starting a lawn mower. Start tugging the rope with force and it will eventually start.
5) Do your characters have a face before you begin writing them? Are they ever based on an actor/actress? Or do your characters begin as a blank canvas that becomes more clear and develop physically while you are writing?
~I already have my main characters features in my head, but later I got online and found what matches not only their looks but their personality as well. My secondary character just morphed into their own person as I typed. I wanted variety because the world is full of variety.
6) What is your most favorite and least favorite aspect of writing a book?
~My most favorite thing about writing is falling in love with my characters and story. As I write it's like me reading it for the first time. I sometime have to remind myself that I can change things I don't like. Until I push publish of course.
My least favorite thing is the funk I was talking about earlier. I hate it and sometimes it feels like I won't get out, but when I do the excitement is addictive. You just want to shout and when I do they crazy looks can't bring me down. Boosh!!

7) If you could have any one of your characters be nonfictional and apart of your day to day life, who would you chose and why?
~I think I would choose Jazz. She is so much fun and full of pent up energy. Plus she has awesome clothes.
8) If you could give the new authors that are about to release their debut novel your shiniest pearl of wisdom,  what would it be?
~You cannot please everyone with your story. Don't take bad criticism to heart, because everyone has a preference. I love to please people but I've learned I cannot please everyone. I love my story and that is all that matters. Just take their words and use it to form and build next story. But nothing in this world is perfect.
9) Ok, now, we all have our fav heroines, and our best book boyfriends, if you could chose a character from ANY book that you would you want to be, who would you be and why? And who is your book boyfriend? Out of ANY character from ANY book, who would you snag up as a husband if he wasn't fictional?

~Wowzers! This is hard. Hmmmm... I think if I could be a character is any book it would have to be Keira from Thoughtless by S.C. Stephens. And of course Kellan would have my named tattooed on him and write me songs. Totally Effing HAWT!!! I know their relationship was VERY rocky, but they have an awesome relationship with each other and their friends are Da Bomb!!! (D-BAGS RULE)
10) While you were writing your book was there a point when everything just started clicking together and you heard Johnny Nash singing "I can see clearly now the rain is gone." Or was it a bitter fight all the way to the end?
~No fight on this story, but book two has become one. But I will Kick ass in the end. I'm just working some kinks out before I get back in the ring.
Thank you for this amazing interview Kimmi!
