 Love is weakness.
Love is unkind.
Love is selfish.
I know better than anyone else. Having made the mistake once before, I refuse to give myself to anyone, body or mind. My heart isn’t even an option. Fresh out of college, I plan to spend my final summer home in the small town of Aurora, New Hampshire with my loving, flighty mother and old friends, my eyes set on the future. That’s before I’m welcomed home by a beautifully flawed drifter, in search of his own. It’s hardly love at first sight. More like loathe. He creeps under my skin from the moment he refuses to acknowledge my existence.
But, it’s hard to deny there’s something in the way he watches me, the way his presence calms and electrifies me, bringing something dead inside to life again. He’s been jaded by his own loss and heartache. It’s burned into his very being.

I want to know Holt Turner—and that terrifies me to death.

REVIEW BY JEN:
If you are looking for a book that will carry you away to that special place where time ceases to exist and magic takes over, then cozy up with a warm blanket and sink into Secondary Colors by Aubrey Brenner.

It's hard to believe that is is Aubrey's debut book!  Her words are spellbinding, and I was captured by this story from the very first page.

Emotional and heart-warming, Secondary Colors is a beautiful and compelling story of family, love, and life that unfolds at the perfect pace.

Evie is a recent college graduate, who returns home to spend the summer with her delightful and flighty mother.  Evie is strong, smart, and protective over her family and over her heart.  Once home she meets the alluring and perfectly flawed Holt Turner.  Holt is a gorgeous drifter without a place to call home.

The chemistry between Evie and Holt is off the charts and undeniable.  They get under each others skin, and their love/hate relationship evolves as their bond strengthens throughout the book.  Their hidden scars and flaws from the past unite them and ignite an all-consuming love.

Life is messy, gritty, and painful at times, and Aubrey does a beautiful job telling this story of healing, acceptance, growth, and true love.

Secondary Colors is charming, romantic, warm, and sexy.  It's a mixture of raw emotion, swirled with life, and dipped in love. This book will make you smile, laugh, and even cry a few tears.  Secondary Colors is the perfect book to lose yourself in.
